Weingut Loersch

The winery is located in Leiwen on the Zummethöhe with a fantastic panoramic view of the Moselle bend at Leiwen and Trittenheim. Nearly all of the winery's vineyards can be admired from here. The winery looks back on almost 400 years of family tradition. Today, Ernst-Albrecht Loersch and his son Alexander cultivate the 4.5 ha vineyard. The cultivation of the vines is concentrated on 90% Riesling and 10% Pinot Noir in the slate steep vineyards Trittenheimer Apotheke, Trittenheimer Altärchen, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, and Dhroner Hofberg. Young winemaker Alexander Loersch, a state-certified viticulture technician, has been responsible for the development of the wines in the cellar since 2002. Quality-enhancing measures such as low pruning, thinning out, selective manual harvesting, gentle grape processing and controlled, restrained fermentation have top priority for his philosophy of terroir-influenced top wines from the slate steep vineyards. The main grape variety of our winery is Riesling - the noblest white wine. A small percentage of Rivaner and excellent Pinot Noir complement the assortment. The vineyards are situated in the best locations in the municipalities of Trittenheim, Dhron, and Leiwen. The wines are characterized by natural cultivation, very low yields, selective harvesting, and reductive aroma-protecting cultivation.
